Throughout my teaching career I’ve worked mostly with pupils experiencing learning difficulties.
In my early days of teaching primary school children I worked closely with a remedial teacher who showed me the way forward in this specialised field.
Whilst working with children who were experiencing these difficulties in secondary school it became apparent that early identification of these problems was the key to implementing appropriate action and support for the pupils.
How I can help
My learning support experience is of great benefit in each of the following areas;
- Dyslexia screening tests
- Scoring so that a profile can be created to show a child’s strengths and weaknesses
- Guidance for future steps if difficulties are highlighted - this can be used as a basis for discussion with the school, class teacher or psychologist
I am passionate and serious about the importance of screening to gain a baseline of child/pupil strengths and weaknesses so it is possible to identify what is natural or effortless for the child and where the “blocks” to learning exist.
